Tajweed

In the religion of Islam, Quran is considered the book of divine guidance. It is revealed in the Arabic language where it is called the spoken word of Allah. It came into earth via an angel on the last prophet of Allah more than fourteen centuries ago. It has commands and laws that Muslims teaches of how to live individually and communally.  Unlike any common book in the world, it has the unique respect of being memorized by millions of Muslims who understand it and also those who are unable to understand it. Another amazing quality of this book is that its recitation is the act of worship that draws the recitor close to Allah.  As in the Surah Al Ankaboot Allah said, recite the book that has been revealed to people and keep your prayers up and surely your prayers will keep you away from evil and indecency.

Many people get confused about understanding Quran as they are unable to speak Arabic. Some people do not know the way of reciting the verses of the Quran which can uplift the person spiritually. Because of some confusions and doubts, some people have a laid back attitude to improve their recitation or in other word tajweed.

The literal meaning of tajweed is to adorn and beautify something. In the Islamic terminology, it means the skill of reciting among people. The sad plight is that many Muslims lack the skills of recitation because they do not know the similarity between Urdu and Arabic. Most people recite the Quran in the way as they speak Urdu professional preachers and teachers do the same thing. We should recite the Quran in the way as it is supposed to be recited in accordance to the rules of tajweed.
